So the brick is coming along. Of all the things so far that has taken the longest and I can't wait for them to get done!!!! I can't wait to see it finished, then the siding guys will come and they are supposedly ready to go as soon as they get the go ahead that brick is done. On another note we are having drama with our old house closing which stinks. Their original loan fell thru and they are getting a new one and everything seems to look good but I don't want to jinx anything. They are hoping to close this week but it's tuesday and we don't have a close date so I'm not holding my breath lol.
Enough of that here are some pics of the brick so far :)

We have brick!
I have been so busy with school the past couple of weeks that we haven't really gotten over to the new house much. But we drove by yesterday and they had started on brick!! Yay!! And the drywall is almost done and our PM said they will be ready to paint by wed. He w\also gave us a walk through date of Nov. 27th but we can close till probably after that so not until monday :( I'm hoping maybe we can sweet talk him into letting us do it the day before or maybe just really early so that we can close before the holiday and weekend. Since I actually have a few days off from school it would be great to use those moving and painting. Well I gotta run now going to the grocery and going to do a drive by of the house and takes some pics :)

pre dry wall
I realized I haven't posted anything since I started back in school! But not a lot has been going on that you can see from a picture anyways. We have a garage and front door. They have done the heating/cooling, plumbing and electric and done some grading around the house. I'm not real happy with the grading our yard is way lower than both neighbors on either side, so that's something that needs addressed. And before they tied in the sewer and filled in the trenches around the house of course it poured for 4 days! So the basement had water in it which wouldn't be a problem but the furnace was already installed so that is being replaced. We are supposed to have our pre-drywall meeting this week so there will be lots more exciting pics then!! It's so crazy how fast all of this comes together it's sorta scary. Well here are the latest pics I have :)

Roofing
Went by this afternoon and looks like they will probably be done with the roof today. And we went by the house with the not so great looking brick and it looks better now for some reason maybe it needed more done to it at the time.....we went up closer to it and for some reason from a distance it looks not straight but up close it does. It's the same brick we are getting so we shall see how it looks on ours. I really liked the color but the sample in the model home did not represent the brick well I don't think. It's much more of a rough finish to it than what I might like, but it's too late now and I still really like the color of it the best. Here is an updated pic.
Drive by!
ZP and I drove by the house today on the way to the park and they are roofing away today. Hopefully the rain stays away until they are done. Also the heating and cooling guy was there doing his thing. Our PM said we should be ready for our pre-drywall meeting within the next couple weeks.
On our old house I think we have decided to start moving stuff this weekend to a storage unit. I hope they are right about our closing date being Nov 27th on the new house because the storage place doesn't prorate and I don't want to be rushed to get everything moved out of it o we don't have to pay another entire month's worth. And it would be perfect if that was the date because we will have off thanksgiving weekend to move. More updates later we will be doing another drive by on the way to my parents for dinner for my LO's Birthday!

finishing up framing.
So the framing crew was finishing up today and the shingles are on the roof and they should start that tomorrow. We met our neighbor to the right (not the farm house) and he seems really nice. He was however very concerned that we didn't do brick all the way to the top of the front. We did really want that but with the limited elevations it was hard to find one that looked good that had an all brick front. Not alot of changes today but we have all the windows in and front door. Here's some pics :)
Oh and here's a random pic of my dog and our roadtrip we took earlier when we had to be out of the old house for an appraisal. We went to the trail next to the new house and Luigi loved every minute of it. He was worn out!

Upgrades
I haven't posted anything about our upgrades yet I guess I should do that. So we are building the Naples model structurally the only things we added were the morning room, over hangs and elevation E. In our neighborhood it's required that all homes have a brick wrap up to the beginning of the second floor I really like that I think the neighborhood will have better resale and I really hate the look of homes with all that siding. Our brick is allendale hill and our shake siding is pebble clay with sandy tan as our siding and white trim. They only suggestion I would put out there to Ryan homes is that I understand they only let you pick certain siding/ brick combos sometimes for your own good because they have people design that kinda thing. But at the same time I think I could pick out my shutter and door color on my own. With that color scheme we had to have dark berry and marooned front door. I know the front door is easily painted but the shutters now thats a pain in the butt!
Here is just a list of some of the upgraes we chose
1. morning room
2. overhangs
3. elevation E
4. appliance package
5. upgraded master bath level 1
6. upgraded 2nd bathroom vanity
7. 42in maple espresso kitchen with trim
8. santa cecelia granite
9. gourmet island
10. optional study (instead of sitting room) but left off french doors to make it more open
11. recessed lights in kitchen
Hmmm I think that's about it. the pricey ones were the elevation and morning room but both were totally worth it I think. We didn't do anything with Gaurdian because my husband can do all that. And we went with whatever flooring they provide with plans to do our own hardwood later. It was crazy expensive to do it through them and didn't really like their options. So I will have to live with laminate for a little while.
Now I have top clean and get the old house ready for its appraisal today. All I can say is selling a house is the biggest pain in the butt EVER! We close in less than 17 days and it can't come soon enough! I'm so impatient I just want to move everything right now. We will be living with my parents so everything is going to a storage unit for about a month so we will have to move twice. And I never realized how much crap we have until now. It's crazy we need to have a huge yard sale or goodwill run very soon. I think I might have a form of hoarding that involves like 200 pairs of shoes ;) okay that might be an exageration. I only wish!

Update.
Not much new today except the gables and the roof is pretty much done. We talked to our project manager today and he said we should have shingles by Wed. We also talked to him about the making sure we don't have a particular brick laying crew, working on another house down the street and looks not so great and we're paying too much for not so great :) he said that some people like that the lines aren't perfect (I call Bull on that one lol) we informed him we do like straight lines on our brick we're not going for "rustic" or anything. It's brick not stone! I might have to bust out a can of crazy if it looks like the other house (just sayin I've been known to go there) We also found out that the house on the other side of the farmhouse is also a naples. It will be interesting to see what upgrades they got and how much they paid. I know for sure we went with a more upgraded elevation and that we added the overhangs. At first I didn't really care about the overhangs but my husband is in the construction field and insisted on it, but I think it looks great so I'm glad we did. I'm sure his reasons were more logical than just looks :) More on Wed hopefully!

Framing almost done!!
Went by today to see that the framing is almost done. There is a crew working on the house on the other side of the farmhouse and we're pretty glad we got the crew that we did! The other one doesn't look nearly as nice! I feel like the crew we have took their time to pay attention to detail more, not that it took them much longer than the other crew but the other crew I get the feeling they are racing to get to the next job which sucks for the buyer and our crew didn't seem to have that attitude. Here are some pics!

Framing in progress!
So our framing crew are moving along fast! 2 days and they are almost ready to start on the second floor. I might actually have pictures a little later of it. But here is from yesterday and the day before. We took the crew a 12 pack yesterday since they were working so hard :)
First blog post!
My first blog post about this is a little late but better than never! We started our building process in July and now we currently have a first floor!! It's amazing how fast they build these homes they just poured the foundation a week ago. Anyways on the good stuff. We chose the Naples model, I think we got a pretty good deal on our lot because it sits next to a random historical farmhouse that is in the new neighborhood. I really liked that about the lot, but I guess most people didn't because the lots on either side of it had been sitting there for awhile! But works for us! Well hear are some pics of what has been happening since we started.
These are pictures of the model home of the Naples. I really love the blue decor! We went with the dark expresso cabinets and morning room just like this one. We did at first have the fireplace in it but changed our minds after really looking at it. It's gas and we have a wood burning right now and seems like the gas is really just for show. So we changed that out for granite! Yay for me!! They greatest part of the Naples aside from it's size and affordability is the upstairs loft and laundry maybe now I can keep up on it......Ha don't hold your breath on that one!!
